The 1996 Golden Olympics that never happened.
In 1987, Greece entered the race to host the 1996 Olympic Games — a bid led by Minister of Culture Melina Mercouri, built on the country’s sporting successes, cultural heritage, and the ambition to bring the Games back to their birthplace for the centenary of the modern Olympics.
But it wasn’t meant to be. The 1996 Games went to Atlanta, while Athens would have to wait another eight years before finally hosting the Olympics in 2004. What if 1996 had been Athens?
👕 Two colour options. Beige or navy t-shirt with two colour front print. Normal/tailored fit.
